Soloist Sunmi recently made her long-awaited comeback with “STRANGER,” a song that mixes the singer’s unique “Sunmi-pop” sound with a scary movie-like theme, just in time for Halloween.

To celebrate her first comeback in over a year, the singer appeared on KBS Radio Cool FM‘s Park Myung Soo’s Radio Show to discuss her new EP, her past relationship experiences, and more.
While chatting with the veteran DJ and comedian Park Myung Soo, Sunmi also revealed the song she passed on, which earned the recording artist Daesang awards for “Song Of The Year” at four major year-end ceremonies in 2022, along with awards at numerous other ceremonies.

Sunmi shared with Park Myung Soo that she was offered IVE‘s “Love Dive” before the top fourth-generation girl group recorded it.
Although she loved the song, she felt it would be too “cliché” for her to record it herself and ultimately felt a girl group would fit the song better.
It’s a really good song, and when I heard it, I thought it would do very well if my fellow girl group friends performed it. I thought it’d be too cliché for me to do it.

“Love Dive” earned IVE Daesang awards for “Song Of The Year” at the 2022 MAMA Awards (formerly known as the Mnet Asian Music Awards), 2022 Melon Music Awards, 2022 Golden Disc Awards, and the 2022 Asia Artist Awards, to name only a few of the awards the monster rookie group received.
Sunmi praised her junior group, saying they “pulled it off so well.”
However, the IVE members pulled it off so well and beautifully, and it seems like they received a lot of love.

Host Park Myung Soo wondered if Sunmi felt jealous after seeing the massive success IVE achieved with the song, but the veteran idol doesn’t feel that way, giving her mature and thoughtful take on the matter.
Not at all. I’ve been in the industry for 17 years. And it’s not nice to get jealous about other artists succeeding.
