Kangana Ranaut lashes out at Bollywood actors endorsing tobacco, ‘They backstab our nation’

Kangana Ranaut is quite vocal with her views regarding the film industry, her movies, and her differences with people in Bollywood. The actress has never shied away from stating whatever is going on in her mind. The actress, who is awaiting the release of her movie Emergency, has now slammed actors who endorse tobacco brands. She called them ‘backstabbers’. While talking at the News18 India Chaupal event in New Delhi, Kangana Ranaut shared her strong opinions on Bollywood celebrities endorsing tobacco. The actress started by saying how Bollywood has ruined the nation and they should take the onus for it. Ranaut said that these actors who offended their net worth and endorse tobacco and asked, “What was their compulsion that they ended up chewing on the screen?” Further in this entertainment news, Ranaut claimed how these people stand together when it comes to anti-national agendas. “They backstab our nation in return for money. They charge Rs 10 lakh, Rs 5 lakh or so for posting (Instagram) stories or on Twitter,” said the Queen movie actress. Just like Kangana, several other stars also slammed the act of endorsing tobacco by celebrities. Often, fans also slam Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn, who have been endorsing it for a few years. Earlier, Akshay Kumar also joined the campaign. However, the Khel Khel Mein actor withdrew after receiving harsh criticism from his fans on social media. The Tanu Weds Manu actress didn’t stop at slamming celebrities for tobacco endorsements. She also criticised Bollywood filmmakers for making movies where villains are presented as heroes. The Emergency star said that in the films they are making, Nayak has become the Khalyanak now. “Their heroes are goons; they chase and tease women and rape them. They do not stand for their culture. Such are their heroes,” stated Ranaut.

Speaking of Emergency, the movie was supposed to hit theatres on September 6 but got delayed as it had not received CBFC certification. Now that CBFC has cleared the political drama, Kangana fans are waiting to know the new release date.
