Kalki 2898 AD: Kamal Haasan aka Yaskin’s look inspired from Harry Potter’s Lord Voldermont? Director Nag Ashwin clarifies

Kalki 2898 AD is still grabbing the attention even though the movie released on June 27. From the VFX to storyline, fans are gushing about the movie non-stop. The film is helmed by Nag Aswhin and stars legends like Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. Even though Kamal Haasan screen time in Kalki 2898 AD was less, the actor has confirmed that the fans will get to see a lot more of him in the second instalment of the film. His look of Yaskin has also left many intrigued. In a recent interview, Nag Ashwin revealed about the inspiration behind the characters. There were speculations that Kamal Haasan’s character Yaskin’s look is inspired from Harry Potter character Lord Voldermont. Nag Aswhin clarified that there is no connection between the two. He added that the references were from old Tibetan monks who are supposed to be 120-130 years old. He shared that Kamal Haasan mentioned about the portrait of Dorain Grey and that was his inspiration. He said, “We didn’t have many movie references for that ancient look.” Nag Ashwin also spoke about seeking inspiration from Marvel Movies’ Iron Man. He said, “We grew up watching Marvel films. I would say Guardians of the Galaxy was more of an influence than Iron Man. Definitely, Star Wars is a huge influence. I love Star Wars, so that is subconsciously a part of my aesthetic.” He added that Harshith Reddy’s character Luke is inspired by Luke Skywalker from Star Wars.

Talking about box office collection of Kalki 2898 AD, the movie has now crossed the mark of Rs 500 crore nett collection. Even over the second weekend, the movie has done fabulously well at the box office. Talking about the worldwide collection, Kalki 2898 AD has crossed the mark of 800 crore.
