In 2022, Rohit Shetty made a big announcement that Deepika Padukone is the first female cop in his cop movie franchise. It was during the launch of the song ‘Current Laga’ from Ranveer Singh’s Cirkus that the filmmaker made this big revelation. DP was also present for the same when it was revealed that she is the Lady Singham. This year, we saw her play a policewoman in Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Singham Again. While DP’s screen presence was quite limited, fans are left wondering if there will be more. So will Deepika Padukone’s Shakti Shetty have a standalone film like Singham, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi? The Golmaal director has given a big update on the same. Rohit Shetty said that he already wrote DP’s character long ago; however, he was waiting for the right script for the right kind of launch for the character. Rohit stated that till 2018, he had no clue if there would be a cop universe. The filmmaker also revealed that he got the idea of bringing Lady Singham into his cop universe world in 2019 itself. However, they lost 2 years to COVID, which caused a delay in the release of Sooryavanshi and the making of Singham Again. Otherwise, the Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor starrer was going to be made in 2020. Further in this entertainment news, Rohit Shetty confirmed that Deepika’s Shakti Shetty will indeed have a standalone film. The All The Best director said that although they have a concept ready, they still have to write the story. So far, they are not aware of where they can go with the characters. “There’s still time for that. I know what the character will be like and her basic story arc but I don’t know her whole journey yet as a director or writer. But a female-led cop film headlined by Lady Singham will definitely happen; otherwise, we wouldn’t have introduced her at all. There’s a reason why we’ve emphasised on that character and her name in Singham Again,” revealed Rohit Shetty.

Well, that’s big news and we are sure Deepika Padukone fans would be happy to hear that her character might also get a solo film soon. Currently, the actress is on a maternity break. DP and Ranveer Singh welcomed their daughter Dua Padukone Singh in September this year.
