Cassie Ventura will testify against her ex and alleged abuser Sean “Diddy” Combs at his sex-trafficking trial next month — and she’ll use her name to do so. Prosecutors revealed in an April 4 motion that “Victim-1” in the indictment against Combs “is prepared to testify under her own name.” Rolling Stone previously identified “Victim-1” as Cassie, and People has since confirmed Cassie plans to testify and use her name. The three other victims will all testify anonymously, prosecutors added. The news came as prosecutors filed a new indictment against Diddy that included additional counts of sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution from another victim, per People. Diddy is now charged with one count of racketeering, two counts of sex trafficking, and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. His trial begins in New York federal court on May 5.
The “Me & U” singer dated Diddy from 2007 to 2018. She settled a lawsuit against the mogul in November 2023 after accusing him of rape and a decadelong pattern of abuse. Then, in May 2024, CNN published surveillance video from 2016 of Diddy beating Cassie in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel. He apologized at the time, saying he was “disgusted.” The initial federal indictment against Diddy in September 2024 accused him of abusing a victim during “one instance at a Los Angeles hotel in or about March 2016.” Diddy’s lawyers since accused the Department of Homeland Security of purposefully leaking the footage and last month accused CNN of editing and speeding up the video. “It’s is not surprising that Combs would make a disingenuous argument to exclude the disturbing video from being shown to the jury in the upcoming trial,” Cassie’s attorney responded.
