A Minecraft Movie Jump-Square Warning

Welcome to A Minecraft Movie’s deranged block party — the guest list is stacked. In a new trailer for the Warner Bros. Pictures film, Jack Black picks up a pickaxe as Minecraft’s default character skin, Steve. Except in this universe, Steve isn’t just part of a video game. He’s a child who yearned for the mines so badly that he grew up and found himself in the Overworld, “a wonderland where anything you can imagine is possible … as long as what you imagine can be built out of blocks.” And other people are later pulled through a portal into this mysterious real, too. A group of misfits — Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Jason Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers), and Dawn (Danielle Brooks) — embark on a magical quest with Steve, fending off Piglins and Zombies as they try to find a way home. Jennifer Coolidge, Kate McKinnon, and Jemaine Clement also star in yet-to-be-disclosed roles. Anxious to see what this cast has been crafting together? Throw an ender pearl to a movie theater when A Minecraft Movie releases in North America on April 4, 2025.
