Anne Hathaway knows what the people want. And what the people want, apparently, is BookTok adaptations. Lots and lots of BookTok adaptations. Following her role in The Idea of You, based on the novel of the same name, Hathaway’s next starring role will be in an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Verity. The book is a modern take on a Rebecca-esque story, following a writer hired to finish an ill novelist’s unfinished books. Hathaway will not play the main character, she’ll play Verity — the sick novelist with a potentially dark past. The roles of Lowen, the woman brought in to finish Verity’s books, and Verity’s husband, Jeremy, have yet to be cast. Michael Showalter, Hathaway’s Idea of You director, will direct this project as well, also for Amazon MGM. This one, however, will release in theaters, following the financial success of the Blake Lively–starring Hoover adaptation, It Ends With Us. As for what Hathaway’s next BookTok project will be, we hope she stars as both the boys in The Song of Achilles.
