Popular folk singer Sharda Sinha who hails from Bihar and ruled the country with her beautiful voice. She predominantly sang in Maithili and Bhojpuri languages. Fans lovingly called her Bihar Kokila, the cuckoo of Bihar. Sharda Sinha passed away at 72 due to cancer on November 5 leaving everyone shocked. She has sung many regional songs like Vivah Geet, Chhath Geet and more. In 1991, she received the Padma Shri award for her songs and was also awarded Padma Bhushan in 2018. She has lent her voice to Hindi, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Bajjika languages songs. Kahe Toh Se Sajna song was sng by her in Salman Khan’s Maine Pyar Kiya. She sang Babul song in Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit’s Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur (Part II) where she sang Taar Bijli in the film. Maine Pyar Kiya was made on a budget of just Rs 1 crore and Sooraj Barjatya’s film became a blockbuster hit. It managed to earn Rs 45 crore and was the biggest breakthrough for Salman Khan. Did you know, Salman charged only Rs 30,000 for his role, while Bhagyashree earned Rs 1 lakh. But, singer Sharda was paid only Rs 76 as she sung Kahe Toh Se Sajna in the film. After Maine Pyar Kiya, Sharda took a break from Bollywood playback singing and returned after two decades. She sang Taar Bijli Se Patle Hamare Piya in Gangs of Wasseypur. Her song Nirmohia from the web series Maharani grabbed a lot of attention.
