In 2023, Shah Rukh Khan ruled the box office with his powerful performances in the movies Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. The fans got to see him on the big screen after a gap of 5 years. All three movies were a blockbuster at the box office. Now, all eyes are on SRK’s next project. The actor has not officially made any announcement. But it’s known to be Sujoy Ghosh’s thriller titled, King. Now, there’s a big update on SRK’s character in the film. Earlier, there were reports that Shah Rukh Khan will play a gangster in Sujoy Ghosh’s King. Now, there’s a new update. The superstar will be seen in a deadly avatar as an assasin in Ghosh’s thriller. As shared by an entertainment news journalist Rahul Raut, we will see SRK in a different avatar. The movie is expected to go on floors towards the end of 2024. The movie will be made on a massive scale. In King, SRK will share screenspace with his daughter Suhana Khan. It will mark Suhana’s debut on the big screen. She made her acting debut with the OTT film The Archies. Along with SRK and Suhana, the movie also stars Abhishek Bachchan as a villain. Munjya star Abhay Varma is roped in to play a pivotal part in Sujoy Ghosh’s movie. Meanwhile, SRK recently teased about playing an assassin again on screen. In the Locarno Meets episode that was released recently, Shah Rukh Khan said, “I don’t believe in the character. Because my job, I think, is to make you believe in the character. I don’t finish a crying scene and keep crying three days later.”

“I would love to play a lot of roles, a lot of characters. I don’t know how differently I can play them. So I am not stereotyped. I am hero type. I play them like heroes. I play them larger than life. I want to do a bad guy now again because I think I have a new way of playing a bad guy. Now I want to play an assassin,” said the superstar.

King is expected to release in theatres during Eid 2026. It will clash with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal’s Love & War. Shah Rukh Khan will be working with Sujoy Ghosh for the film King. Earlier, the superstar produced his 2019 movie, Badla, which stars Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu.
